A few years ago, photographer Tim Kölln released The Peloton, which featured a series of candid portraits of cyclists taken immediately after races, when they were at their most vulnerable, illustrating both the beauty and the brutality of the sport.
This year’s Paris-Roubaix was the perfect combination of beauty and brutality, and every single one of the finishers, as well as all those who didn’t make it to the fabled velodrome, should be seen as heroes.
Here are a few of those heroes, with each of these faces telling a story that will stay with the rider for the rest of his life.

2 things to say here : Koretzky did a brilliant race. It was the first time he rode PR and managed to stay with Steegmans, O'Grady and Hayman after some hard cobble sections. 3 guys who have experienced top 10 in this kind of monument. Great job.Secondly, all my respect goes to Saxo-Tinkoff. Every of the 8 riders finished the race. Ok, Breschel is only 15th but that is what he promised. Some Saxo boys discovered the race for the first time, so congratulations.
